Eagle-eyed fans of Bluey have finally discovered the age of Bandit – the patriarch of the beloved cartoon blue heelers.

Viewers took to social media to share they had figured out that Bandit is 45.

The crucial detail was revealed in a brief scene during mini episode ‘Browny Bear’ which dropped last week.

In the segment, Bandit’s driver’s license can be seen with the birth date October 25, 1978.

It also reveals his full name is Bandit Custard Heeler.

Ever since the show first debuted in 2018, fans have wondered the age of Bandit, who is father to Bluey, seven, and Bingo, five.

Both of the children characters have only had one birthday on the show in six years, which has fans asking on X [Twitter] for the exact year the show is set.

‘Official Bluey Twitter account can we get confirmation on what year the show takes place,’ begged one frustrated viewer.

This is despite the fact that Bandit’s driver’s license says it was issued in 2022 and is set to expire in 2025.

Aussie Bluey fans outraged after US audiences get two extra ‘minisodes’

Bluey recently achieved a milestone achievement, becoming the most streamed TV series across America in 2024.

The world famous ABC Kids series has been watched among US viewers for 35billion minutes this year, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Executive producer Daley Pearson took to social media on Tuesday to celebrate the global success of his TV series.

‘Bluey’s now the number one most watched show (of all) in America for 2024. How incredible. With 35 billion minutes watched this year,’ Pearson wrote.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Australia commented on Pearson’s post to congratulate his team on their success: ‘All our kids love it (and now use the word dunny)! Congratulations!’

Bluey, which streams on Disney+ in America, narrowly beat the competition, including House of the Dragon, Grey’s Anatomy and Family Guy.

The Aussie cartoon was also the second most streamed show in America in 2023, coming just behind the legal drama Suits.

It follows reports that kids in the United States are beginning to speak with an unmistakable Australian twang after tuning in to Bluey.

The cartoon has become wildly popular in the US after premiering on the Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney+ in September 2019.

In 2020, The New York Times described the show as ‘the biggest Australian export since The Wiggles’ – the country’s most famous children’s band.

The cartoon stays true to its true-blue roots and is packed with ‘g’day’ greetings and unmistakably Aussie phrases like ‘show us your thongs, muffin!’
